Toyota Safety Sense
Truck windshields face higher road debris exposure. We use high-retention adhesive rated for the vibration and stress profile of truck frames.
Most 2020 Toyota Tacoma models come equipped with Toyota Safety Sense, which includes cameras and sensors mounted near the windshield. After replacement, professional ADAS recalibration is required to restore lane departure warning, automatic emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control functionality.

Technical Reference: 2020 Toyota Tacoma Windshield
The 2020 Tacoma is the mid-cycle refresh of the third-generation (AN150/AN160) platform. The OE windshield part number is 56101-04082 for SR, SR5 and TRD Sport grades, or 56101-04092 for TRD Off-Road, Limited and TRD Pro with the forward camera bracket for TSS-P. Toyota Safety Sense P (not the newer 2.0) was standard on all 2020 Tacomas — a mono-camera + 77 GHz radar system that handles Pre-Collision with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Departure Alert with sway warning, and Automatic High Beams, but does not include Road Sign Assist or Lane Tracing Assist. That distinction matters for calibration: TSS-P requires only a simpler static-only calibration on a flat pad with the vehicle at OEM ride height, not the static-plus-dynamic procedure the 2024+ Tacomas with TSS 3.0 need.
Tacoma glass is 5.0 mm laminate — thicker than typical passenger-car glass — because Toyota spec'd it for the rattle and flex profile of a body-on-frame truck. Aftermarket replacements that cut corners on laminate thickness tend to develop stress cracks within 12–18 months as the frame twists during off-road use or crosses Houston's unlevel concrete expansion joints on the 610 Loop. We stock OEM Toyota glass through Gulf States Toyota distribution in Houston and can have any 3rd-gen Tacoma glass on the van within 4 hours during weekday business hours.
Houston Service Notes for the 2020 Tacoma
The Tacoma is the single most-replaced windshield in our shop. Two reasons: first, Tacomas are everywhere in Houston (Toyota moved more than 15,000 units out of Gulf States dealers in 2020 alone), and second, Tacomas run the TxDOT-contract construction routes between Katy, Cypress, and Montgomery County, picking up limestone chips from every unsecured gravel hauler on 290, 249, and I-45 North. We see an average of two rock-strike chips per Tacoma per year in the Houston market; the Tacoma's relatively flat windshield rake means the chip trajectory is near-perpendicular, which is why these chips crack so reliably and so often can't be repaired.
A persistent 2020 Tacoma-specific issue is the upper windshield molding clip — Toyota redesigned it in April 2020 mid-year production, and early-build VINs (roughly pre-04/2020) use a crimp-on molding that breaks when removed. We stock the replacement molding kit (Toyota part 75533-04040) and bill it at cost on cash jobs where we find it has failed. Texas drivers with comprehensive coverage through any major carrier pay $0 for OEM glass plus TSS-P calibration — we handle the claim end-to-end and the truck is back on the road same-day from any of our three Houston locations.
